Ms. Haugen currently teaches at Florin High School, previously, she taught as a Science Resource Teacher at Florin Elementary School.
Heidi Haugen graduated from the University of California., Davis with a degree in Environmental Toxicology and a minor in Botany.
She received her teaching credential in 1988 from the University of California, Davis and her CLAD Credential in 1994. In 2010 she
received her Career Technical Education Teaching Credential in Agriculture and Natural Resources. In 1997, Ms. Haugen received the
National Association of Biology Teachers Outstanding Biology Award. In 1998, Ms. Haugen was honored to be named Teacher of the Year
for Elk Grove Unified School District, Sacramento County, and a finalist for California. She was also selected for the Presidential
Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. The University of California, Davis College of Agriculture and Environmental
Science presented Ms. Haugen with an Award of Distinction, the highest recognition presented by the college to individuals whose
contributions and achievements enrich the image and reputation of the college and enhance its ability to provide public service.
Governor Gray Davis appointed Heidi to the Commission on Technology and Learning, in 2000, where she served as Co-Vice Chair.
In 2002, Ms. Haugen obtained her National Board Certification. That same year she was Co-editor of NABTs Biology Labs That Work:
The Best of How-To-Do-Its, Volume II.
Haugen joined Cal TAC in 2011.
